These magical Blue Ghost Firefly experiences take place on a peaceful, private property about 45 mins from downtown Asheville in the Mills River area. We’re so excited to introduce this special place to you, a beautiful 900+ acre woodland retreat that has been set aside in a conservation trust, shielded forever from destructive, invasive development.
A significant portion of your fee helps protect the forest where the fireflies live. This land is managed solely by a small, dedicated family with limited resources but huge hearts and steadfast determination. Your support of these efforts is truly priceless. We are all deeply grateful.

The Blue Ghost firefly hike was an experience I will never forget. Our tour guide Kim, took us on a meditative journey into the forest. Led with intention , mindfulness, and education. Seeing the fireflies immediately transported you into a real life fairy tale. It was enchanting to say the least. 15/10 – will do again!

I went on a blue ghost firefly tour with Asheville Wellness Tours, and their guide Christa, on Saturday night. The whole experience exceeded my expectations and I highly recommend it. Christa and the AWT team combine a hike to see the rare fireflies with a forest bathing experience. We saw plenty of fireflies and Christa has a way of creating a magical, meditative experience to ease you into the forest and sharpen your senses, it was a very relaxing evening. Other tours send you out with a much larger group and I liked the small-group aspect of this tour.
