A little mountain air. A really good meal. A stretch with a view. And, somewhere in between, the lovely realization that you haven’t checked your phone in a while.
That’s our kind of wellness weekend in Asheville.
October invites you to pull on a cozy layer and spend a little more time outside. Fall color moves through the mountains at different elevations, giving you plenty of reasons to take the scenic route. Check Explore Asheville’s fall color report close to your visit for a sense of where the leaves are putting on their best show.
Whether you’re planning a getaway with friends, a weekend for two, or a staycation right here at home, this itinerary combines Asheville Wellness Tours experiences with local food, coffee, and places to rest your head.
Think of it as a starting point. There is absolutely room to pencil in a nap.
Friday: Arrive, Exhale, and Eat Something Delicious

Give yourself a soft landing
Keep your first afternoon simple. Check in, unpack, and leave a little breathing room before dinner. A short wander around downtown can help you shift from travel mode to weekend mode.
If you arrive early enough for a coffee stop, High Five Coffee serves coffee, tea, and pastries, with locations on Rankin Avenue and Broadway Street. Pick the one that fits your route, order something you’ll enjoy, and give yourself permission to sit awhile.
Make dinner part of the experience
For your first evening, consider Cúrate for Spanish tapas downtown. Sharing plates gives everyone an excuse to slow down, try something new, and keep the conversation going. Make a reservation ahead of your visit.
Prefer to browse a menu of creative American dishes? Chestnut, on Biltmore Avenue, serves dinner with an emphasis on ingredients from local growers and producers.
Our wellness philosophy has plenty of room for a satisfying dinner. Dessert can come along, too.
Saturday: Mountain Views, Movement, and Room to Unwind
Start with breakfast and an unhurried cup
Have a proper breakfast before heading out for your morning adventure. If you’re staying downtown, The Watch at The Restoration is an all-day café and bar with coffee from The Rise. It’s another option for a leisurely coffee stop during your weekend.
Check your experience’s meeting time before settling in for that second cup. Mountain mornings are better when nobody is sprinting out the door.

Take your practice outside with an AWT yoga hike
Our Asheville yoga hikes combine a guided mountain adventure, beautiful views, and yoga suitable for all experience levels.
We provide the mats and a local guide to lead the way. You bring your curiosity and a willingness to slow down.
New to yoga? You’re welcome here. A little wobbly in tree pose? Also welcome.
Reserve your hike in advance, and we’ll send the meeting location and everything you need to prepare. Allow time in your schedule for travel and a relaxed morning outdoors.
Pack water, a snack, sturdy closed-toe shoes, and layers. October sunshine can feel wonderful, but mountain breezes like to keep things interesting.
Let the afternoon stay spacious
After your hike, make time for lunch and a rest before deciding what comes next. You don’t need to fill every hour to have a memorable weekend.
If your group would love another experience, ask us about arranging a private sound bath or mobile massage through our custom wellness itinerary planning. Availability and location arrangements vary, so these are best planned ahead.
Then again, a book and a comfortable chair make a pretty compelling afternoon itinerary.
Sunday: A Slow Morning and One More Dose of Nature
Linger over brunch
Give Sunday morning a little extra room. Chestnut offers daily brunch downtown, making it an option for a final meal together before everyone heads home.
Let the conversation wander. Compare favorite moments. Discuss whether moving to the mountains is a practical plan or simply excellent brunch conversation.

Enjoy a gentle walk at the North Carolina Arboretum
If you’d like one more outing, head to the North Carolina Arboretum for some time among the trees.
Bent Creek Road offers a mostly flat, gravel route that follows the creek for 1.3 miles within the Arboretum. It’s shared with cyclists, and you can turn around whenever you’re ready. For another option, the Carolina Mountain Trail is a moderate, 1.2-mile trail through several forest types. Use the trail map to plan your return route.
Check the Arboretum’s trail information and current visitor details before arriving.
Choose a walk that suits your energy and departure schedule. There’s no extra credit for squeezing in one more mile.
Want a weekend with less hiking?
We can help with that, too. Ask Asheville Wellness Tours about forest bathing, private yoga, meditation, or other experiences available through our custom itineraries.
Tell us about your group’s interests and comfort levels so we can help you find a good fit. Your weekend should feel like yours.
Where to Stay for an Asheville Wellness Weekend
Choose your home base around the way you want to spend your time.
The Foundry Hotel: For a downtown weekend
The Foundry Hotel puts you close to downtown Asheville’s restaurants and shops. Consider it if you want to walk to meals and coffee, then drive out for your mountain adventures.
The Omni Grove Park Inn & Spa: For a resort stay

The Omni Grove Park Inn & Spa is an option if you want your accommodations to be a bigger part of the weekend.
If the spa is on your wish list, arrange it early. Spa treatments and day passes require separate reservations and are subject to availability. A room reservation alone does not include spa access. Review the current spa reservation details before booking.
A vacation rental: For gathering your people
A rental can give your group space for shared breakfasts, long conversations, and quiet downtime. Before booking, check the actual drive to your planned activities.
Interested in an AWT experience at your rental? Confirm that the property allows outside practitioners and has suitable space, then talk with us about the arrangements.
Tips for Visiting Asheville in October
A little preparation leaves more room for the fun parts.
- Reserve your anchors early. Book your accommodations, priority meals, and AWT experiences, then leave space around them.
- Pack layers. Bring a warm layer and rain protection for outdoor plans.
- Check trail and road conditions. Review official updates before heading out, especially if your route includes the Blue Ridge Parkway.
- Follow the color. Fall foliage varies with elevation and weather. Use current reports instead of counting on one guaranteed peak weekend.
- Keep the schedule realistic. Allow time for mountain drives, parking, meals, and simply enjoying where you are.
